We have been loving our fun summer days over here at the Spena house! Slow mornings, lots of backyard time, copious amounts of popsicles, evening walks, and more have been filling our days.
Since this is our last summer as “just us girls”, I’ve really wanted to try and find things to make it special for the two of them. And while I have some plans for special outings and treats up my sleeve, I also really want to focus in on uninterrupted, quality time with each of them. Things like, breakfasts together without distractions, play time without me trying to get other stuff done, fun things like splashing in the pool in the backyard together….simple, easy things that I can do that will hopefully leave their tanks feeling full and happy by the time little brother gets here in September.
Yesterday was the perfect summer day! It wasn’t blazing hot out, but warm enough to head out in the 10 o’clock hour to play! Initially only Mabel and I were the ones in swimsuits but we were having so much fun, we finally roped Abigail into putting her suit on and coming to play with us too!
She ended up being the most fun by the end of it! So good.
I also had the chance to really play around with the new camera lens that I got for Mother’s Day! I’m loving it so far!
I was actually brave and let Abigail take a picture of me in my maternity swimsuit- eek! I thought for a second about attempting to edit my thighs but then I was all, “ain’t nobody got time for that”. So, there’s 24.5 weeks pregnant in a swimsuit in all it’s glory for ya.
She first came out with her book, sunglasses, and Jim’s massive sandals on. And then proceeded to read while Mabel ran around playing and splashing and I took pictures. I love that kid.
Let’s pretend that is a leaf and not a super huge dead bug. Mmkay?? Mmkay.
Favorite capture! Look at her little smile behind that water. Love it.
Since we’ve been outside so much lately, I thought it would be fun to round up some of the things that the girls have been playing with non stop while we’re outside! (other than our swing set!)
Garden Table– Mabel got this for her birthday this year and it is absolutely adorable! It has also translated to a super fun pool toy as well- the girls love using the little pots and flowers filled up with water and refilling them over and over again.
Water Table- Always a classic! Mabel got this for her 1st birthday last year and it’s still going strong! Both girls love playing with this(it gets gross super fast- but Jim had the idea of making it a game for the girls to clean it with sponges and soap…which is genius)
Bubble Machine– Best $10 I’ve ever spent. The girls got this in their Easter basket this year and we use it every day! We got this huge refill of scented bubbles to go with it and the girls(and all of their friends!) just love it.
Kiddie Pool– Another birthday present! The detachable roof is a super fun feature, the girls like it either way and we’ve definitely used both. It’s spacious enough for the two of them…and even Jim too! :p
Sprinkler Hose– The princesses also like to have this going at the same time when they’re playing in the pool. It sprays and splashes them just the right amount….so if you’re in the market for something like this, I definitely recommend this one!
Wiggling Waterpillar Sprayer- Another birthday present! A great sprinkler addition if you don’t mind the water spraying quickly/strongly. My girls prefer more of a mist, and this little guy doesn’t really do that- but I think it’s great for bigger kids.
Roller Coaster- And last but certainly not least, the roller coaster that shows up on my IG stories again and again. It’s fun for inside, it’s fun for the backyard, and now, it’s fun as a water toy! It’s just big pieces of plastic so it’s no big deal for it to get completely wet. The girls love having the hose or sprinkler going as they ride down the roller coaster over and over again. We have gotten so much mileage out of this toy since we got it at Christmas! Definitely one of our favorites, for sure!
